The Forts Walk Revival Open Day

Horseshoe Bay Road, Magnetic Island- Saturday 13th September 10:00am to approx. 8:00pm

Historical Military Tours (2 tours): 10:00am – 11:30am and 12:30pm – 2:00pm
Historical tour of WWII Coastal Defence Installations by David Pierce, military enthusiast and part-time member of the Australian Army History Unit.

‘Life At The Forts During WWII’ (1 tour): 12:00pm – 1:30pm
Put yourself in the shoes of the construction team, the service men and women, and the island community, with stories gathered from Bryony Barnett’s (TYTO Consulting) research.

Koala Spotting Tour (1 tour): 10:30am – 12:00pm
Join Ranger Tony Gordon from Bungalow Bay Koala Park to meet the resident koala along the Forts walk. Learn about these iconic animals and their history on Magnetic Island.

Sunset Picnic & Aquapella Concert: 4.45pm – 8:00pm
In addition to the day activities you can enjoy The Forts with a special picnic (at the first Gun Emplacement) and an Acappella concert (at the Ammunition Store). BYO Picnic, torch, walking shoes and a gold coin donation.

Not Too Old To Dance Townsville Rockfest

Saturday 13th September 2:00pm to 10:00pm
Tony Ireland Stadium

Put on your dancing shoes! This years over 40’s Rockfest is going to be bigger and better than ever! You will be rocked off your feet by live music, food and merchandise stalls, licensed bar areas and an added addition this year is the Rock Bus, transporting party goers to and from the event via local pubs.

Included in the line-up is Pseudo Echo and Baby Animals, supported by five local bands; Supersonic Sex Machine, GodFathers of Funk, The Blessed Outlaws, Euphoria, and Inertia.

Don’t worry if you don’t quite hit the 40 mark, this years young rockers will be charged an extra $5, which will buy a “Fake” ID for the event. All Youngun’s Fees will be donated to Connecting Rainbows – a local charity supporting and encouraging grassroots volunteers.

Clash of the Queenslanders! Come and watch these two Queensland teams fight it out to secure a spot in the semi finals. Gates open at 5:00pm with the curtain raiser starting at 5:15pm. Kick off to the main game is at 7:55pm
